How transactions get from your bank into Evenbead: a bank feed that brings them in by itself, or a statement file you download from your bank and import. Either way, each transaction becomes a bank line waiting to be matched or categorized; nothing posts to your books just because it arrived. (Checked against the app on 2026-10-18.)

Where it lives

Open Banking. At the top is the Bank feeds panel; below it, every bank and card account with its ledger balance, how many lines are unmatched or waiting for approval, and where its reconciliation stands. Lines and reconciliation opens an account's lines.

Connect a bank feed

  1. On Banking, under Bank feeds, select Connect a bank. (Connecting needs an admin of the company.)
  2. A window from Plaid opens. Choose your bank and sign in there. Evenbead never sees your bank password and gets read-only access to transactions.
  3. Back in Evenbead, link each account at the bank to an account in your books, or create a new bank account for it, and select Link selected accounts.
  4. Check the opening balance: the history the feed brings in starts somewhere, and the balance before it is the bank's balance less what came in since. Nothing posts until you confirm it.

After that, new transactions arrive on their own. On the feed's page (Manage) you can Sync now, Reconnect if the bank asks you to sign in again, and Disconnect: the lines already imported stay, and the accounts go back to statement files.

Each plan includes a number of feed-connected accounts (3, 15 or unlimited); the panel shows how many you use.

Import a statement file

  1. Download the statement from your bank's website as OFX or QFX (sometimes called Quicken or Money format).
  2. On Banking, scroll to Import a statement.
  3. Choose the Account, the Format and the Statement file (up to 240 KB; split a longer history by date), and select Import.

Evenbead says how many new lines it added and opens the account's lines. Importing the same file twice adds nothing: each line is recognized by the bank's own transaction ID, or by its content. A line that looks like one you already have (from the feed or another file) is not posted: it waits at the top of the list, where you choose Exclude as duplicate or Not a duplicate, keep it.

What happens to the lines

The account's page sorts lines into Unmatched, Awaiting approval, Categorized, Matched and Excluded. Your rules and agents suggest a category for each unmatched line, payments are matched to open invoices and bills, and anything an agent can't decide on its own waits for a person (see Approving agent proposals). When a statement arrives, reconcile it: Reconciliation.
