Connect ChatGPT

Connect ChatGPT to your Evenbead books as a custom app (MCP connector). You sign in to Evenbead and choose what ChatGPT may do; you never paste an API key into ChatGPT.

What you need

  • A ChatGPT plan with custom MCP apps. On 2026-10-11 full read and write tools were available on Business, Enterprise and Edu, with an admin enabling developer mode for the workspace; on Pro, custom connectors in developer mode were documented as read and fetch only. Check your plan's current rules in ChatGPT.
  • An Evenbead login with the admin role in the company (or a firm admin login).

Add the app

  1. In ChatGPT, open Settings, then Apps (called Connectors on some plans), and turn on Developer mode if your workspace requires it.
  2. Choose Create (or Add custom connector). Name it Evenbead, enter the MCP server URL https://api.evenbead.com/mcp, and choose OAuth as the authentication.
  3. Leave the client ID and secret empty: ChatGPT registers itself with Evenbead. Confirm that you trust the app, then Create.
  4. ChatGPT opens Evenbead's sign-in. Sign in if needed.
  5. On the consent screen, check that it says Connect ChatGPT to Evenbead and that you go back to chatgpt.com. Pick Read only, Suggest (the default: proposals only) or Post within limits, then Allow.

In a chat, add the Evenbead app from the tools menu and ask about your books. ChatGPT asks before it runs a tool that writes; Evenbead then applies your level and approval rules on top.

Manage or disconnect

In Evenbead, open Settings, then Connected AI apps to see the level, last use and recent actions, to change the level or to disconnect. Disconnecting stops ChatGPT's access at once. Deleting the app in ChatGPT does not revoke it in Evenbead by itself.

Notes

  • ChatGPT's redirect address depends on the app it creates (https://chatgpt.com/connector_platform_oauth_redirect, or a per-app address under https://chatgpt.com/connector/oauth/). Evenbead accepts exactly the address ChatGPT registered, and the consent screen shows the host.
  • Evenbead returns the iss parameter with every authorization response (RFC 9207), which ChatGPT checks.
  • Workspace domain restrictions in ChatGPT Enterprise that require OpenID Connect sign-in are not supported: Evenbead's authorization server issues OAuth tokens for the MCP endpoint only.
